We’re Changing the Way You Access Appointments
From Tuesday the 22nd of September 2026, we’ll be introducing a new way of arranging appointments at the practice.
We understand that any change can feel uncertain, but our aim is simple: to make it easier for patients to get the right care, when they need it, from the most appropriate member of our team.
Why are we changing?
Like many GP practices, we are seeing increasing demand for appointments. We want to make sure that patients with the most urgent needs are seen promptly, while also reducing wait times for everyone else.
Our practice is made up of a wide range of skilled healthcare professionals—not just GPs. By making sure patients are directed to the right person first time, we can provide quicker, more appropriate care and make the best use of appointments.
What will happen when I contact the practice?
If you need any urgent medical support from us, please call us on 0117 9623406. Our Care Navigator team will ask you a few questions about why you need an appointment.
We know some patients find this unusual, but please be assured that our Care Navigation team are following guidance from our clinical team. The information you provide helps us understand how quickly you need to be seen and who is best placed to help you.
For anything else, we will ask you to complete a form via our website. If you can’t complete the form for any reason, our Care Navigation team can support you with its completion. Your request will then be reviewed by the end of the next working day.
Once your request has been reviewed, we will contact you with the next most appropriate step. This may include:
- an appointment with a member from our team such as a GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Pharmacist, First Contact Physiotherapist, Mental Healthcare Practitioner or Practice Nurse
- advice by text or phone
- signposting to another NHS service if that is the most appropriate option
If your condition is medically urgent, it will continue to be prioritised.
Please bear with us
Changing the way we work is a big step for both our patients and our staff. During the first few weeks, you may notice that things take a little longer while everyone gets used to the new system.
There may be slightly longer telephone waits or delays while we process requests, and we really appreciate your patience as we make these improvements.
Our team will be working hard behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible and to continue providing safe, high-quality care.
Will I still be able to see a GP?
Absolutely. If a GP is the right person to help with your problem, you will be offered an appointment with a GP.
Many health concerns can also be managed by other experienced members of our team, who often have specialist expertise and may be able to see you sooner.
What if I can’t access/use the form?
We know that not everyone will be able to complete the form. For example, someone may not have access to the internet, may not be able to view the form or may not have access to a computer or phone. If this is the case, please just inform our Care Navigators and they will be able to help you complete the form or complete it on your behalf.
For those who would like to learn how to complete the form, our Care Navigation team have a tablet device that will allow them to demonstrate and go through the process of completion with you. You just need to ask at Reception.
Thank you
We know that changing a familiar system can take time, and we are grateful for your understanding and support.
Our goal is not to make it harder to access care - it is to make sure every patient receives the right care, at the right time, from the right healthcare professional.
Thank you for bearing with us while we introduce this new way of working.
